Stop waiting for the perfect moment to come...It won't.

Now you might be thinking "Dang, that's a little pessimistic." And shoot, maybe it is🤷‍♀️ -- but as a recovering perfectionist, I can safely say there is NEVER a "right" or perfect moment to start what you want to start or to do what you want to do.

I'm going to expose both you and myself when I say this: Telling yourself there is a perfect moment to start and waiting for it to come, is only a lie you tell yourself to justify your procrastination.💯

Why in the world do we procrastinate in the first place? If these dreams of ours are so big and so beautiful, and we truly want them, then why on earth would we want to delay them?! The answer is the same reason why we want them; They ARE so beautiful and SO big, and we want them REALLY bad!

It is easy to put an overwhelming amount of pressure on yourself because of how bad you want those things. Especially for my fellow perfectionists. We tend to have an all-or-nothing/black and white mindset that causes us to think "If I don't do it perfectly, I won't do it all." In our mind's eye, it is protecting us from potential "failures," criticism, and overall disappointments, when in reality...It is also holding us back from learning, growing, and attaining the very things we want to have, do, and be.

I'll let you in on a little secret: that's why I am forcing myself to sit down and write this blog right now. I have grown sick and tired of waiting, of delaying, of not believing in myself and my abilities. I've filled 6 out of the 7 days a week working 2 jobs--neither one of them I plan to be my lifelong career--just to do something with my life for the moment. Even though deep down I feel this spark, this inkling, that there is something more for me.

I have heard the quiet calling time and time again, and each time I hear it, my eyes widen, my heart races, and that spark grows brighter.

But time and time again, I have feared, I have doubted, and I have drowned the whisper in busyness. I have thought "Yes I want that, but how?" "Yes, I want to do and be that, but how?" "How do I start?" "Where do I start?" "When do I start?"

So I am starting by writing this post in the basement of my boyfriend's house right now.

Because it doesn't matter, how or where if you don't start at all.

I don't know if this is the right or wrong thing to get me where I want to go. I don't know if anyone will see this or not, and quite frankly I don't care how many people do or don't.

I just need to start.

And if you are reading this...So do you.

What do you want out of life? What is it that the mere thought of it lights you up, warms your palms, and makes the butterflies in your stomach fly?

Do you want to write a book? Do you want to start a podcast? Do you want to own your own business? Do you want to be financially free? Do you want to travel the world? Do you want to learn another language? Do you want to play an instrument? Do you want to grow in your spiritual life? Do you want to start eating and living healthy? Or do you simply want to be happy and enjoy life?

No matter how big or small your goals, dreams, and vision, hang onto them like your future depends on it-- because it does.

You don't need to start big...actually please DON'T start big. If you go crazy at the beginning, you automatically set that high standard for yourself and basically set yourself up to fall short of that afterwards.

Success in any form is not all-at-once, overnight, or by chance. It is small, consistent actions that add up over time. (highly recommend reading the book "Atomic Habits")

Start small. Start today. Start right now. Make it easy, make it simple.

Seriously, close your laptop or turn off your phone right now, and go write one page of that book you've been wanting to write. Go record a short and sweet 5 minute podcast episode of a topic you love or a recent lesson you've learned. Take 10 minutes to write up your business plan. Whatever money you were planning on spending to buy new clothes or perfume (that you really don't need) go put that into your savings account, even if it's just $5. Look up 1 new word in the language you've been aweing over. And so on.

Whatever you do, just START.

Let's learn, grow, and achieve together!✨🪷
